New Diagnosis

This last Friday, we met with a new doctor. The type of doctor non of us would like to see…We met with a medical oncologist and we will meet the radiation oncologist in a few weeks as well.

I had a procedure on January 24th and the results came back with the unfortunate diagnosis of anal cancer. The good news is, we’ve been told it’s likely treatable! So far, it’s been a royal pain in the tooshie, pun totally intended! It’s been 12 days since the initial surgery and it’s still very uncomfortable but I have finally received a little pain relief which is great. I need to heal more from this last procedure before we can do the PET & MRI scans which are scheduled at the end of the month. This will tell us the severity of the cancer and determine exactly how to treat it. What I do know, I will be receiving chemo and radiation 5 days a week for 5 weeks.

I have always appreciated being ignorant in this category but I’m all in! I’m focusing on learning more and charging forward the next few months with the hope that some day maybe I’ll be shaking my tail feathers again like this girl!
