NYC, Dana, And Me

This years Brewer’s Ball was a huge success. Word must have got out what a hit it was last year, they doubled in attendance.  Thanks to the great crew that joined us!

Maybe one of the reasons I have had the sniffles is the morning after the Brewer’s Ball, Dana and I took our first ever girls trip together. We traveled to New York City for a three day vacation. It was quite chilly and we did a lot of walking outside in the damp cold.

We had so much fun. We did everything! We went to the top of Rockefeller Center during the day, the top of the Empire State Building at night, saw a Broadway play, took a boat cruise to view the city and the Statue of Liberty at sunset, attended a taping of “Live with Kelly & Michael” morning show (thanks to my friend Angela for the tickets), took a brief jog in Central Park, walked through St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and so much more!

The most impressive part of our trip was the 9/11 Memorial Museum and reflection pools. If you ever go to NYC, plan on spending a day there. There is so much to see. I would also recommend the guided tour. It was wonderful to get the added knowledge. The emotions walking through the museum bring back memories about the horrible day our country was terrorized. It is a very touching tribute to the all the victims, families, firemen, police officers, and all that assisted during the attacks on America that day.ground zeroHealth notice: Monday’s doctor’s appointment went great! I was so nervous with the cold I have been suffering from. Turns out, I had some of the best lung functions yet!! I am still numb to the fact that if I have some congestion that it doesn’t include a hospital stay with a lung infection. Thank you to my donor for this experience.

Since April is Donate Life Month, yesterday I volunteered in the hallways at the University of Minnesota educating students and faculty about the importance of being a registered donor. We had some great conversations with many individuals. A few people that were not currently registered told us they were going to sign up.
