When Will The Bad News End

It is very difficult for me to type due to the pain I receive on my incision across my chest. And I’m using one hand, so this will be brief. When I came home Saturday, I noticed my right arm was VERY swollen. Very much like the Popeye arm I had after my transplant. My right bicep is almost twice the size as my left arm. We thought maybe the I.V. I had in that arm had infiltrated. This means the fluid I received was no longer in the vein but was absorbed in the tissue.PopeyeMy mom had to take me to the University today for some blood work. I don’t get a signal on my phone in the basement where the lab is located. We no sooner got in the car to come home, not a block away from the clinic, and I had a voice mail pop up on my phone. My doctor ordered an ultrasound to look at my arm. We turned around and headed back to the basement at the U.

After the test, I opened the bathroom door to find my transplant coordinator standing with my mom. I sat down in the wheelchair and she told me I have a couple new clots in my arm!!! We then proceeded to go upstairs to meet with my doctor. Once again, after hearing yet another bit of devastating news, I broke down in tears. Tomorrow, I am going to meet with the blood specialist again. We need to know what is causing these clots.

When are the tears going to dry up? When is the pain going to stop? When will the bad news end?

Nikki I feel bad to hear how discouraged you are. You have been through a lot. Keep being positive. That is what will get you through all of this . Think of all the fun things that you have
been able to do. This is a set back for you but you will over come all of these bumps in the road.
I am praying that you will have a better rest of the week. And your next post will be more incouraging.

Oh, Nikki. You have been so strong as I have been following your journey from afar. I cannot imagine how difficult this has been for you and all who surround you. It is definitely been a rollorcoaster ride. My hope is that what goes down must come up and you will find some solutions to help with the clotting. Are you seeing Dr. Redding? He is the clotting specialist my cousin has seen and who I worked with when I was at the Blood Clot Alliance. He is with the Fairview Center for Clotting and Bleeding disorders.

Please know I think of you and Trav often and am praying for you.

    Chris

Nikkie – I am crying with you. You have been so strong – so determine – such a positive attitude but everyone has a point where they say enough is enough and that is where I am thinking you are. I am praying for healing for you and the ability to deal with what is thrown at you. Not like you have much of a choice. Things will get better! Hang in there dear Nikki and know how much you are loved!

Nikkie I so feel for you and know what you are going through as I am having many problems also, but not like you. I was the one who gave you the purple bracelet. Hang in there, I know the tears, the pain, but we are both so strong, yet sometimes you wonder how much more can one person take or two here. I have been told that one person shouldn’t ever have to go through in my life what I have had to, but I think you running further a head of me and pray that your pain and all go away soon for you, lets just keep looking for the sun. I had my bilateral lung transplant in October and still don’t have the energy to get better with all the set backs 😦
